Citizen Academy

The Citizen’s Academy offers an opportunity for Village residents and representatives from area businesses to learn about local government and its various operations.

Participants will attend evening sessions once a week for several weeks. Sessions will last approximately an hour and a half. Village staff facilitates the sessions and provide in depth information on law enforcement, fire protection, public works, budget/finance, community development and parks/recreation services. All the sessions are held at locations within the Village of Bellevue.

The academy is no cost to participants due to the generous donation received from the Guyette Family.

Those who complete the program will have their achievement acknowledged by receiving their certificate of completion at a graduation ceremony held during a Village Board meeting.

The goals of the academy are to provide an educational experience for participants at the same time offering an opportunity for residents to ask questions and to present their ideas. For many participants this opportunity will lead to an increase in community involvement and volunteerism.

Registration for the 2025 class will be available through the Village's Recreation Program Registration Site in late fall 2024. If you can't attend all sessions, that's ok; we'll still be happy to have you as a student!
