Citizen Academy

The Citizen’s Academy offers an opportunity for Village residents and representatives from area businesses to learn about local government and its various operations.

Participants will attend one evening per night over a period of several weeks. Sessions will last approximately an hour and a half. Village staff facilitates the sessions and provide in depth information on law enforcement, fire protection, public works, budget/finance, community development and parks/recreation services. All the sessions are held at locations within the Village of Bellevue.academy graduation

The academy is no cost to participants due to the generous donation received from the Guyette Family.

Those who complete the program will have their achievement acknowledged by receiving their certificate of completion at a graduation ceremony held during a Village Board meeting.

The goals of the academy are to provide an educational experience for participants at the same time offering an opportunity for residents to ask questions and to present their ideas. For many participants this opportunity will lead to an increase in community involvement and volunteerism.

Registration for the 2018 class is tentatively planned to be available in December, 2017 through the Village's Recreation Program Registration Site. If you can't attend all sessions, that's ok, we'll still be happy to have you as a student. The 2018 class schedule is as follows:

  • March 8, 2018
  • March 15, 2018
